Roger MacBride Allen is a difficult author to find on these shores. Even if one his books is available it's either filed under M for MacBride or A for Allen. This offering is just like the 1950's space opera from Doc Smith et al and I could not wait for the horizontally challenged lady to sing. My advice is look for his stolen world trillogy which is excellent ("Ring of Charion" is the first book).

This book was a great read. I couldn't put it down. There is plenty of action, and it is gripping. His writing makes you want to skip ahead to find out what happens. Mr. Allen shows great imagination and writing skill with this one and I look forward to all his books.
