If you don't like seeing alien planets represented by quarries, then this adventure could drag for you! Apart from a few studio scenes, it is set mainly in or around said quarry. The weird saxophone music sounds closer at times to 'Laurel and Hardy' than Dr. Who, but does work on occasion. The Doctor is still spry but now seems mentally a bit weary (Maybe Jon Pertwee still felt deeply the loss of Katy Manning and Roger Delgado?). I bought this story recently as I didn't have one where the third doctor encountered the daleks, so I choose "Death To The Daleks".
The story is quite intriging and I would recommend this to any Whovian. The only thing that is a bit of a let down is the dalek voices. They seem a bit effeminent compared to previous stories, however that all changed after "Genisis Of The Daleks", which was to come the following year.
But overall well worth buying!

I bought the video because I wanted to see what Pertwee's last season was like with Sarah Jayne. After hearing bad things about Pertwee's last season, I was pleasantly surprised. Sarah Jayne was no doubt a big improvement on Jo Grant. The story begins when the Doctor and Sarah crash land on an eerie dark planet which has drained their power so it begins very atmospheric and scary, and is a pretty grippping story throughout. The sets and effects are actually quite impressive, especially when the root ... Read More
