Editorial Review:Amazon.co.uk Review:Paintshop Pro is one of the most popular image editing packages in the world, due in large part to its magical combination of low price with powerful features.
Paintshop Pro is a fully featured digital darkroom in the same mould as
Adobe Photoshop. This special 10th-anniversary edition of Paint Shop Pro is filled with free software, filters and images, including
Jasc Media Center Plus 3.1,
Flaming Pear Virtual Painter and
Alien Skin Eye Candy .
Version 7 adds a raft of new features for retouching digital images, creating business graphics and producing interactive Web graphics.
Paintshop Pro's vector shapes--introduced in version 6--have been enhanced and now support gradients, textures and patterns on stroke and fill commands. New image-editing features include auto-enhance, which adjusts colour balance, brightness, saturation and hue to improve picture quality with a single click. New filters for noise, scratch and dust removal, together with automatic red-eye removal make picture restoration easier than ever.
You don't need a separate vector application to create business graphics--
Paintshop Pro's enhanced vector drawing tools provide everything you need. New align, distribute, arrange, group and resize commands, and snap to grids and guides makes for quick and accurate positioning of graphic elements. And there are over 20 new artistic and lighting special effects to experiment with.
Web masters will appreciate
Paintshop Pro's new Web features which include image slicing, image maps, JavaScript rollovers and file optimisation with browser preview. As usual, JASC's excelent Animation Shop 3 is included with which you can create gif animations from layer-based
Paintshop Pro images. Productivity and ease of use enhancements and a new "getting started" guide all go to make this one of the best value power packages for image editing. --

Yes, I know this is an old version, but even after all these years, it still does everything I need for my graphics projects. The extra filters bundled with the anniversary edition are really useful, plus the manual and PDF tutorials tell you everything you need to get started. I had tried a demo version of this when it first came out, and when I needed a full package for my web graphics it was a choice between this and Photoshop Elements. I have no regrets in choosing PSP and I don't think you will ...

I bought this software after a recommendation in Micromart. I bought it to work on my digital photos. Quite frankly it's excellent and the 10th anniversary edition includes a series of tutorials for the hard of learning (that's me). It also has a 'getting started' manual, a full manual, and a manual in .pdf format. No need to buy another 'help book'. The price is also great. When combined with the Canon A40 powershot (what a camera for the price!!) I recently bought from Amazon I have a powerful tool ...

I'm 57 years old, not a computer genius, and have been using MGI PhotoSuite 3 for a couple of years. MGI is a great starter and I was very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone, but PSP is in a different class. I think it's hard to get to grips with but, unlike so many things to do with computers, I have found it rewarding and not frustrating. To say that each time I go on it I discover something new sounds corny, but it really is true. I firmly believe that PSP will serve all my needs for the ...

Reading through the other reviews for this software, the general impression is that users are satisfied, I would not disagree, but would add the following points. Firstly, although this is one of the easier programs to use, it still is reasonably complicated to begin with. The hard copy manuals are definitely an advantage but I felt that they could have been written better and users will need them open while working. It's probably as well to try out the 'Getting started' guide in full before doing anything ...
