I've had my BFQ450 for 5 years and was browsing the web looking for a replacement.
I would agree with other comments that the key do stick down and need to be pressed firmly, there is also a tendency for one key to not respond as quickly as the others leading to some misspelling which can be annoying. It has been pretty resilient, after 4 years the only damage is one of the lid hinges which has come loose.

This is a fantastic device. I can't extol it's virtues enough. I can't think of a word it doesn't know. When it conjugates, it does so accurately into every tense and into every person. It's great. I love it. The batteries have JUST died on mine after a year of constant use. Of course, I'll buy new ones ^_^

Originally, I wanted to get my hands on the BFQ-1440 model, but unable to find it anywhere for sale I settled on the 450. I was concerned previously because of negative comments relating to the quality of the keyboard, the flip-top lid and the battery life. On the whole I'm pleased with this - certainly beats having to lug a big dictionary around. Two criticisms:
1. The keyboard is awful. Although brand new, the nasty little rubber keys aren't very responsive and tend to stay stuck down and have to be prised back up with a fingernail or pencil tip. The lid feels very flimsy and I have no faith in it surviving being knocked about in a bag - perhaps designed for a jacket pocket?
2. The keyboard has a French layout ( well, I suppose that's ...

I bought one of these about 2 months ago. We go to France quite a lot and it has quickly become indispensable. We had previously been lugging around a 2kg paper dictionary because the smaller ones are inadequate. The BFQ-450 has translated virtually every word we have looked up.
I can understand the previous comment about the construction but actually it seems to hold up reasonably under use and is pretty neat. The size is about optimum -small enough to fit in a shirt pocket and just about large enough ...
