This toaster was fine for about 2 years then it started behaving very erratically. It could no longer keep the correct timing and would just seemingly randomly pop up. Then one side wouldn't stay down and stopped toasting. Now the other side has failed. I think 2 years lifetime is pretty poor.

I bought this toaster because of the price and now I know why it was cheap, it's rubbish. Those levers to lift the crumpets high enough to pick them out break so they're useless. It is so big it takes up loads of countertop. The bread toasts unevenly, burnt on one side and white on the other. Also the bread sticks out of the top so you have to turn the bread to toast the last inch. Rubbish, don't buy it.

I had seen this toaster and discounted it on looks (fickle I know), but then had the horror of opening a present in front of the giving family member on Christmas Day and guess what?! OK, no problem, I'd been whinging for a toaster for months so could hardly complain when somebody, thinking of me, made a gift of one. As ocwright mentioned earlier - it's BIG. I've owned one of these for well over a year now, it's gets used daily and is still working fine. There aren't so many 4 slice toasters to choose from, but this one is worth trying. All the slots can cope with quite thick slices and will automatically close in on slimmer slices when the bread is lowered. I have had this toaster for the past two years with no problems at all. It is constantly used and I have never had any problem with it. It can toast four slice or two at a time and the setting are simple and work well. You don't have to be heavy handed to use it and so anyone with arthritis or stiff hands can use it with ease. It still looks good after all this time and cleans well.
