Driving Test Success Deluxe 2003/2004 Edition is a set of six CD-ROMs covering the theory, practical and hazard perception components of the driving text; in addition you also get a full route finder for the UK and Ireland so that, should you pass, you'll at least know where you're going.

The most important, although least exciting, part of this bundle is the theory CD-ROM, which includes every question in the official DSA Driving Theory Test Question Bank--that's over 1,000 questions. From the main menu you can brush up on your Highway Code theory, take a test or look something up in the electronic Highway Code. The Hazard Perception CD-ROM on the other hand, contains 100 video clips, filmed from the driver's point of view and covers the kinds of situations you'll encounter when you start to drive whether you're out in the country, on a main road, driving in the fog or negotiating a lorry that's unloading on a high street.

The Practical CD-ROM is even more fun. Here you can try out more than 100 3-D driving lessons covering everything from pre-drive safety checks and moving off, to joining and exiting a dual carriageway. You "drive" the car using your mouse and keyboard--so obviously it's not totally like the real thing--but it's a fine companion to the Driving Theory CD and will allow you to get used to quite complex traffic situations without too much unnecessary stress.

Finally there's Route Finder 3.5, which now includes nearly 6,000 points of interest, along with all the usual journey planning features. You can specify preferred routes and avoid others, define whether you want to choose the fastest, shortest or cheapest route and then print both the map and the instructions so you can take them with you. This completes a six CD-ROM set, which represents excellent value for anyone who's learning to drive. --Rob Beattie

I wasn't going to buy this, but I'm SO glad I did. Believe me, if you've never taken a hazard perception test before, you have to get this cd rom. I wouldn't like your chances on the real test without having practised. The cdrom was very like the real test, and in fact is more difficult - so if you can get a decent pass rate on the cdrom, you'll do great in the real test - I know, I've just passed it! I practised doing 3-4 tests about 3x a week before my real test, and passed the theory 100% ... Read More

I found the pack very useful... there is even a little virtual car game/simulator you can use, i didn't use this... but if you have never drove on the road, its really good because it takes you step by step through a virtual tour of driving.

The multi-question disk is brilliant, i read my highway code 2 times, then i just kept testing myself on the disk... after i had aced the disk 4 times in a row, i was pretty confident about my theory test... all of the questions i got on ... Read More

Rating: - I'm an instructor. Good theory stuff, useless driving stuff
The hazard perception CD is excellent, as is the theory section. But the practical test CD is pants. It bears no relation whatsoever to actual driving - the instructions it gives you to do are quite simply wrong, it often fails to recognise that you have operated the controls leaving the user to repeat a section that they have done correctly.

As for the route finder software, don't bother. It's handy for a quick calculation of basic route and the estimated time and mileage is a guide. But ... Read More

This was a fantastic package.
It really helped me practise for the real thing, the theory test CD waswhat I used most of all but the hazard perception disk is identical to thereal one and I took my theory and hazard test last week and got 34 out of35.
Do I need to say anymore..... Fantastic CD's.
Also very easy to use and much more helpful than just reading thebooks.
