I already own Sibelius (music scoring/composition software) and as a amature singer I needed a way to record backing tracks and layer my voice over the top ... sometimes making several takes, filtering my voice (I'm not that great, so some filters pitch-alter & echo my voice nicely enough to make me sound better) and record the final stuff onto CD. About 18 months ago, Adobe acquired the company Syntrillion and bought in effect one of the best sound editing software products ever, the shareware product "CoolEdit". I had bought the version of CoolEdit 2000 with all awailable plugins and was troubled by the news that Adobe now owned the lot, and what was worse, had removed the nifty homepage wherefrom hints and other goodies could be found.
