I am really impressed with the 'live' sound on both these live cds. It's very clear, and one of the best engineered live albums i've ever heard of Setzers. What a setlist!? And you can now buy both these concerts on dvds...doesn't it bring it to life when you can see the person playing as well as hearing them? So, 'Mystery Train' - unbelievable guitar, slap bass etc....'Honky Tonk'...shows you some more of what Setzer can do with a gee-tar! Shame you have to buy the expensive Japan versions of these ... First off, a wonderful offering. OK, so they can't bundle the original recordings because they were done on other labels, but that works out for the better. The live element adds so much to it. As for an Ultimate Collection? I'm not sure. I guess this is where it goes down to personal preference. For a start, the second CD is a cut down version of the Live DVD. That's fine. What a brilliant format idea, a two-disc anthology of an artist's best bits, but recorded live, so all of it is effectively unreleased material. Not only that, but each disc features a different concert, from different stages of their career. As Setzer explains in the liner notes: "One is the beginning of the band - a show in Montreal that was rockin' and when the band was hungry. We really had something to prove and I think you can hear that edge. The second CD is a show from Japan after all the Grammy ... Read More

This album is a great momento for anyone who has seen the BSO. It records the joys, technical skill and energy of the whole live performance. The two CDs differ greatly. The first is recorded in Canada in the early days when they were fining their feet. The second in Japan when the confidence is flowing and the band are showmen. Contrast the two versions of Rock this Town. If you've seen the band relax in your favourite chair, turn up the sound, shut your eyes and you'll be able to see the smiling faces ... Read More
