If someone had told me this album were some lost Sid Barrett Pink Floyd tapes from 1970 I would have believed them. One can instantly hear after this album the vast difference the arrival of Kjartan Sveinsson and his musical training contributed to the orchestral and string arrangements of their subsequent work.
I akin Von to Floyd's pre Dark Side material and for a collecter it's still a worthy purchase in following the history of Sigur Ros.

Just bought this after having had the other three albums for a number of years, and I have to say it's my favourite. Strongly reminiscent of Hawkwind & early Pink Floyd, especially Saucer Full of Secrets

The album's reputation amongst fans and the band themselves has since become a dubious one, what with the band's line-up having changed significantly ...

i was very nervous about buying this album after reading the other reviews on this page, but after finding the courage to go and buy this album, i was pleasantly surprised at how good it is. it is not good value for money, because only 5 of the tracks could be described as songs, the rest of it is ambient mood setting noise. but the 5 songs (hun jord, myrkur, hafsol, von and sindir guds) are all excellent songs. also this album is hugely interesting to any Sigur Ros fan, in finding out how their beautiful music ...
