I decided to get this since i have The Crusade and Ascendancy and i loved them both, this Is a great debut but it's just not as good as their other albums. The best tracks are Fugue Revelations, To Burn The Eye & My Hatred. You can deffinetly hear the metallica influences on this album. The music is brilliant but the vocals are a bit annoying especially the melodic vocals they can be really annoying. Worth getting if you have Ascendancy.

I am very much a "like what I like" type of person so here goes. I bought Crusade first after listening to we are the fire and was impressed very much with the musicianship and the vocal and greatly impressed with the last track which is an instrumental (I usually hate instrumentals). I then bought inferno expecting much of the same but.... Guitars are great all musicianship great but "growly" lead vocal with unintelligible lyrics?. Some of my younger friends have accused lead singer of imitating ...

This is one of the greatest debut albums of all time, and I am including Hybrid Theory in that. This is superb metalcore, there is not one weak track on this. Standout tracks are 'If I could Collase the Masses', 'Ember to Inferno', 'To Burn the Eye', and my favourite Trivium song of all time 'Blinding Tears Will Break the Skies'.
The musicianship and vocals are pristine (and Heafy was 16/17 at the time of writing/recording!) and this is a must for any metal fan. It is thoroughly enjoyable ...

I prefer this to Asendancy, but only just. First off i would say this is a bit heavier, and matt vocals are in my opinion better.
Intception, the Bleeding Skies:
A short kerboard intro similar to 'The End of Everything' it flow flawlessly into Pillars of Serpents. 6/10
Pillars of Serpents:
Pounding double bass beats, agressive riffs, and vocals. 9.5/10
If i Could Collapse the Masses:
not quite as pounding at 'Pillars of Serpents', ...

Now to start with i hated this, as then i wasn't into the screaming type of metal, but now i find it very good for that sort. However, it has started to bore me and i can't really listen to the whole album, a couple of tracks at a time definately, but not all at once. Compared to The Crusade, this is bad, but for that age and as Matts voice wasn't the best then, it is a great achievement. My opinion may change about this album if i hear any of it live when i go and see them This April.
