I have tried Linspire as my first experience in linux and was very disappointed. Contrary to what I have always been told about linux in general,it locked up often, forcing a reboot or even off-on. I never manged to get it to work with my Epson CX4600 - ever. CNR feature is a positive, but its not very encouraging when you download software and then have to investigate how to install it, which involves a certain knowledge on linux command line syntax.
linspire 5.0 works fine as long as you ...

It has been a few years since I last looked at Linux (Mandrake 7.0), and it looks a good deal slicker and freindlier than it used to. I tried three distro's including SUSE 10.1 and Linspire, and I have to say that Linspire wins hands down on ease of use. This distro gets 10/10 from me. Or 5 Stars, even. Before you can truly realise its power, go ahead and install ALL THE OTHER DISTROS out there (including Xandross). Something will be 'broken' in each one - usually sound, adsl or graphics.
Once you've binned all your Linux discs, install Linspire (in around ten minutes) and everything just works! Everything. You want Xine to work properly? Download it via CNR. This truly is the best Linux distribution I have EVER used.

I have used Windows from 95 to Me but became so tired of the servicing required to keep it running.
We then decided to use an alternative operating system called Linux, Red Hat, SuSe, Ubuntu were all duly tried and for my family and i did not work as required.
I then found Linspire and have not looked back, its ease of install and use is amazing.
Linspire has been installed on all 3 home systems the kids, wife and mine and is being used for everything that a system can ...

Linspire is a great alternative OS. It will appeal to the type of individual that can sit in front of any computer and start working regardless of which type of OS is installed.
Of course Linux has been around a few years now and has often been referred to as the OS that computer geeks use. Linspire is the OS that I and many others have been waiting for. A Linux with the ease of use that we are used to on MS windows.
Sick and tired battling malicious software as well as the cost of software ...
