Editorial Review:Amazon.co.uk Review:The latest remake of Burt Reynold's 1974 flick, Adam Sandler's take on
The Longest Yard, is unlikely to win him many new fans. But it has merits as a good, solid, enjoyable comedy, and it finds Sandler himself in very strong form.
The plot sets him as an ex-American footballer, who is sent to prison following a car accident. There, he finds himself putting together a team of convicts to face off against the prison guards, an opportunity that many of the prisoners simply don't want to pass up. And that pretty much sets the stage for a fast-paced, frequently-funny comedy that doesn't eclipse the original by any means, but is a worthy testament to it.
Its main strength is its cast. Alongside Sandler himself are a collection of names from the American Football scene, but British audiences are more likely to warm to Chris Rock. He pretty much steals good chunks of the movie from under Sandler's nose, and some of the film's finest moments are down to him.
Granted,
The Longest Yard hardly sets new ground for comedies, and neither is it the finest laugh-fest of the last few years. But it is fun, it is funny, and for Adam Sandler and Chris Rock fans in particular, it's a fine way to spend a couple of hours. Worth a spin.--

This movie might be a remake, it might even be an american version of Mean Machine with vinnie jones but its better than both.
Adam sandler and an impressive cast of wwe superstars give a fantastic performace of comedy in its best form, the gurads are hatable and the convicts are good fun, funny.
The film is great fun to watch and will have you laghing for the majority its good slapstick comedy at its best with a happy ending and a we dont care attitude.

I think the only good thing in this film is Chris Rock. The storyline id good but poorly executed. Has absolutely dire acting (probably adam sandlers worst, and thats saying something!) Yeh it has some good bits, but they are completely ruled out because off the appaling acting!
I would say this is a worth a watch, but dont go out your way.

This is another by-the-numbers Adam Sandler adventure, which means it's almost pointless to review it. Either you like this guy or you don't. Personally, I think he's pretty funny most of the time, so here are some thoughts.
This one starts out with Sandler as disgraced ex-football player Paul 'Wrecking' Crewe, who is mooching off his girlfriend and being a jerk. Sandler gets into a drunken car wreck and next thing you know he's off to jail where redemptive sports-related opportunities ...
