By now you will have read that this is one of the most fantastic animations of all time.
However, may I suggest that you do your utmost to purchase the original Japanese version and watch it with subtitles, rather than with the silly dubbed American voices.
It takes on a whole new character watching it in the original Japanese.

This morning I watched this film with my 2 daughters who are 3 and 7 (I'm 45).We all really enjoyed it and I think we were all touched by its magic. I've seen the film many times before and yet it still continues to delight. I love Miyazaki, but because I always thought this specific movie was more children oriented, I never really felt the desire to watch it. Now that I have, it's my favorite Miyazaki movie yet.
I found 'My Neighbor Totoro' a bit "lighter" than most of his movies, which in no way makes it less fantastic.
