We have been listening to this CD on repeat play for several weeks, and we all know the words to all the songs!!!! As a grown up I don't mind this at all, because they are so much fun.
This is a cheese-free CD, packed with belting little tunes for the whole family to sing along to. If the usual commercial children's compilations made of crappy chart pop 'hits' makes you want to hurl, you'll probably love this.
We also like 'they might be giants' kids cd's, some of the smithsonian ...

This is a fabulous album for everyone...no more moments of car maddness listenning to the teletubbies for the 10th time! My children (4 and 2) absolutely love the album. The first night they got it we had an 'disco' they instigated as they loved it so much. 'I'm an astranaut ' is their favourite and ours and provides the opportunity to make up lots of actions to go with the song. The last song is so sleepy and beautiful... and the tidy up song is a fav I use with great success with them! For any parents who ...

A very clever auntie got this for my 4yr old son for christmas, and it's not been off the CD player in the car since. He (and i) love singing along to Franz's Jackie Jackson and Belle and Sebastion's Monkey's breaking out of the zoo!!! It's ssssoooooo much fun (half man half biscuit) and a welcome break from some of the twee kid's cd's out there. I'm buying it for children of friend's and i'm sure they'll thank me for it, as well as for being a worthy cause!!

I have heard bits of this album on their web site and it sounds great. I will be buying this album.
If you like this kind of music and want more, then check out the They Might Be Giants album called 'NO'.This was recorded a few years ago now but is another album of original songs for children and its great.

If, as a parent, you are sick of the fact that "children's" albums seem to consist solely of muzak versions of nursery rhymes, and you'd secretly prefer to be playing the latest Killers album, then this should be top of your purchase list. It seems such a simple concept - get some of the country's top bands, ask them to write and record a song for children, and put out the resulting compilation for charity - that you wonder why it has taken until now to do it.
And what a fantastic bunch of songs ...
