I was never a massive Trivium fan, but thought that Ascendancy was a very good album.
I bought this one as I also kinda liked the first two singles, which looking back was very much in a pop music sense, rather than music to take seriously and really get into.
I really can't stress enough how awful the lyrics are on this album. I found them quite embarassing, the kind of music you wouldn't want anyone else to hear you listening to. Lyrics like 'for you honour, you will slaughter, every ...

This band kept being recommended to me by Amazon and when this album was released it sounded right up my street. I don't tend to buy those records where you can't read the band's name. I already own a washing machine, so I don't need to hear spotty boys from Norway emulating one - whilst wearing black. In short - I'm not intimidated by melody, so I ordered a copy.... and it's terrible. The 'We Are The Fire' nonsense is just embarrassing. This album sounds like Metallica with a McDonalds sponsorship! ...

I love this album the songs are brilliant, the lyrics are good, the vocals are excellent, the guitar work is awesome, the drumming is really awesome. My favourite tracks are Tread the floods, Ignition, Entrance Of the Conflagration, To The Rats, Becoming The Dragon & The Crusade (thats pretty impressive). This totally different to ascendancy but amazing, the only track i dont like is the rising it's boring. The rest of the tracks awesome especially Tread The Floods. In My Opinion both Ascendancy and ...

For all those thinking that this album is a 'Metallica rip-off' listen to it! I'm sorry but Trivium don't sound like Metallica. Their technique is different and their style is different. Matt doesn't try to sound like Hettfield, after all, as Heafy himself says 'this is the voice i have and i can't change that'.
Anyway, this album is amazing, only word to describe it, you have to listen a couple of times to pick out your favourite song but all of them have different 'good bits', the solo's, the ...

I think we're all guilty of liking Trivium at some point. Yes that includes me, I can admit. Back in the day of Ascendancy, when I'd not heard anything of this kind of "brutality". But times change.
I'm a music student and complete death/prog metal head (I'm also into funk, acoustic, folk, classical, jazz and rock, so try not to think of my opinion as biased) so I've been around the block a fair bit when it comes to music, and I can safely say The Crusades is nothing that special. Sure there's ...
