I wish I'd read the other reviews here before purchasing this item. (Unfortunately I bought mine from another store because I had a gift voucher there and it didn't occur to me to research it). Just like the other reviewers experienced, there are no proper instructions, it's really hard to know what to do. I softened the clay and pressed it into the tin but found it impossible to get a decent imprint of my son's foot. Also like the other reviewers, you have to apply a great deal of pressure to get ...

My wife and I were given one of these as a gift when our daughter was born back in august. We used the baby art magix box when she was 9 weeks old.
Grabbed the clay, kneaded it for a bit, popped it in the tin, flattened it out best I could, grabbed my daughters foot (while she was being fed) and pushed down in to the clay. She didn't bat an eyelid and seemed calm.

I found that there were no clear instructions on what age group this was suited for. My two month old son just wanted to scrunch the plaster in his fingers whenever we got his hand near it. How you get a young infant to keep their hand open I have no idea. We had to smooth over before each attempt. In the end we had to go with what we had as after three attempts the plaster had started to harden. This really isn't for young infants, as it is difficult to get as good a print as you see on the lid. I would ...

I agree! This was a very disappointing buy and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! The instructions are missing - should we knead the dough, for how long, how to dry, how to store... and the imprints are invisible even after applying quite a lot of pressure. How people can manage an imprint of a one-month old baby is a mystery! You will acquire much better results using salt dough for practically no money. To call this an ideal gift is simply outrageous!

I agree completely - the only instructions were 3 very unhelpful diagrams. Despite kneading it, the clay didn't fill the tin and it was almost impossible to obtain a footprint despite standing my 5 month old grandson on the tin and applying pressure!
Don't waste your money - it would be better to draw round the foot or hand.
