Editorial Review:Amazon.co.uk Review:In keeping with the current trend for sophisticated fusions of pop and classical music, Universal now present the world's first all-female super-group. All Angels are comprised of four teenage girls - Melanie, Laura, Daisy and Charlotte - who besides being experienced choirgirls have diverse modern listening tastes that span Ella Fitzgerald, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Billie Holiday, Alicia Keys and Coldplay.
All Angels, their debut album, starts off with the band's first single, an inspired cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Songbird", a track popularised by Eva Cassidy. The youthful power and subtle glamour of the girls' voices is immediately evident, and becomes even more so as they tackle pop songs like Robbie Williams' "Angels", Carole King's "You've Got A Friend" as well as traditional classial material such as Schubert's "Ave Maria", Barber's "Agnus Dei" and Offenbach's "Barcarolle". Slightly less predictable are their versions of "Sancta Maria" (from Pietro Mascagni's one act opera
Cavelleria Rusticana) and "Salve Regina" (from Pachelbel's
Canon In D). Manufactured they may be, but All Angels nonetheless provide an authentic listening experience.

`All Angels', released in November 2006 is the first of a five album deal which the group signed with the Universal Classics and Jazz label. The album reached number 9 in the UK Music charts, was nominated for `Album of the Year' at the Classical BRIT Awards in 2007 (beaten by Sir Paul McCartney's `Ecce Cor Meum') and eventually won a platinum disc.
Of the 13 tracks on this album around half are classical/opera, the rest are contemporary and traditional. The classics are familiar ...

I had the pleasure of listening to the girls singing in York Minister last week - have been to a few concerts in my time ( been there, done that etc etc, says this jaundiced 46 year old ) - but this was the only time in my life that I was moved to tears by music : they were simply sensational. As for the cd, well, we can all argue about which tracks we like and which tracks they should have ( not ) done - we all have our favourites - but you can only admire the way they have interpreted the songs, and ...

I'm 14 and i absolutely love this quartet! Some songs are edging towards pop rather than classical but every song has a very large vocal range! Their harmonys are incredible and extremely relaxing. I recomend 'Ave Verum Corpus' and 'Salve Regina'. If you're into choral music the two tracks i mentioned are perfect!
