Editorial Review:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
What better way to commemorate Star Wars' 30th anniversary than with this double-length Very Special Episode, a full-scale, awesomely animated spoof that recasts George Lucas's saga with Family Guy's galaxy of characters: Chris (Seth Green) is Luke; Lois (Alex Borstein) is Princess Leia; Peter (Seth McFarlane) is Han Solo, but not, as expected, Jabba the Hut; Brian (Seth, again) is Chewbacca; Quagmire (and again, Seth) is C3PO; Cleveland is R2D2; Herbert, the creepy senior paedophile, is Obi-Wan (both voiced by Mike Henry); and, of course, Stewie (Seth, one more time) is Darth Vader ("My diapers have gone over to the dark side"). Poor Meg is reduced to a cameo as the hideous reptilian creature that haunts the garbage compactor.

Blue Harvest is reverently faithful to A New Hope, while engaging in typical Family Guy pop-culture references (everything from old commercials to Doctor Who, Airplane, Dirty Dancing, and Deal or No Deal) and bizarre digressions (the iconic opening crawl detours into an appreciation of a "way naked" Angelina Jolie in Gia). Along for the wild ride are Judd Nelson, who contributes a voice cameo as John Bender for a Breakfast Club gag, Rush Limbaugh railing against futuristic affirmative action on Tatooine talk radio, and Beverly D'Angelo and Chevy Chase as the vacationing Griswolds observing the rebellion from their orbiting station wagon. A Star Wars spoof in 2007 isn't exactly uncharted territory. As Chris Griffin notes in this episode's final moments, Robot Chicken brilliantly did it months earlier (and let us not forget Mel Brooks's Spaceballs from 1987; or, on second thought...). But the Force is strong with Family Guy, and who could resist the opportunity to hear the Muzak playing in a Death Star elevator? --Donald Liebenson, Amazon.com

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - One of those few idiots...
After finally convincing my brother to watch an episode of Family Guy, infuriatingly it turned out to be this one. It's really not up to the standard I've come to expect of the series' writers, it was pretty lame, really, obviously written by Star Wars fans for Star Wars fans. Now he refuses to watch it at all and thinks I'm daft for liking it. Crud.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - 5 stars is not enough!
I have to say, this was even better than I expected. I was laughing so hard (a rare occurance in most movies) that I actually had to stop the DVD to take a breather, my sides hurt so badly :-) It's not just Star Wars, there are even a few more clever film references throughout, with Airplane (another favourite of mine) popping up more than once. This is the combination of probably 2 of the best things I could watch, Family Guy and Star Wars.... who needs anything more?

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great but more Star Wars than Family Guy and so short
and I was surprised it was so short, being 45 minutes and only Episode 4. I had for some reason thought it was 75 minutes and the first three films. Also don't expect the anarchy and comedy of regular Family Guy episodes, I would say it is more a homage to Star Wars with Family Guy overlaid.

The storyline, script and even some shots closely if not exactly follow the film and this is where I enjoyed it as they are so well done. I didn't really laugh like I do with regular FG, but it ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - spat in the face
after stewie griffon the untold story i was mildly offended by the family guy producers. it wasnt a a film of any description just 3 episodes played back to back and as a massive family guy fan that simply wasnt good enough. this was a new low; £14 for a 45 minute episode with jokes that fell short of the series anyway was and absolute insult. both futurama and the simpsons managed to pull off a passable feature length and the lazy approach seen here i think shows how little the producers regard ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Ignore those few idiots
People that rated this to be 1 star are complete idiots, do not listen to those fools, they have either never seen Star Wars, or prefe South Park, (Because apparently South Park is full of mature, deep, humour?)

This spoof is absolutely brilliant and comes with plenty of laughs (once again, they are mainly star wars jokes, so if you haven't seen Episode 4, you better!)

My favourite has to be when Cleveland-D2 gets shot and he shouts "WHAT AM I? ARTOO-PAC?"

A very clever, ... Read More
