Editorial Review:Amazon.co.uk Review:Writer-director Frank Darabont, who showcased the softer side of Stephen King in his film adaptations of
The Shawshank Redemption and
The Green Mile, turns to darker material for
The Mist, his latest King adaptation about a group of ordinary townspeople trapped in a supermarket by a mysterious fogbank. Thomas Jane is top-billed as a Maine illustrator who attempts to calm the frightened shoppers, but his job is cut out for him from the get-go, first by the discovery of malevolent creatures lurking in the mist, and then by the mad mutterings of Mrs. Carmody (Marcia Gay Harden), a local eccentric who calls for Old Testament-style sacrifices to appease the supernatural forces. Darabont delivers monster movie thrills and understated social commentary with equal skill, and he's well supported by his cast (which includes Andre Braugher, Toby Jones, William Sadler and Jeffrey DeMunn) and the vivid special effects by KNB EFX, which effectively mix CGI with models and stop-motion animation (the terrific monsters were designed by legendary comic book artist Bernie Wrightson). And for those curious about how the novella's downbeat ending has translated to film, suffice it to say that Darabont's conclusion is at once different and more unsettling than King's.

Let me start with this i give i one star for a very unexspected ending, yet hardly an ending i like to see! so really if i could give it no stars i would! very unrealistic ending!!!, this is by far the worse horror movie, acually the WORSE MOVIE IV EVA SEEN!!! set pritty much in the one location, nothing even looks near to real, the scrip is a load of rambling, watching it becomes fustrating because they is no way people would take on the problems in the way the characters do! its just really a boring ...

Sounds like a B-Movie by the numbers on paper doesn't it? But there is far more to this tour-de-force psycho-gore fest. The real monsters are of course the humans and the steady deterioration of brotherly love packs one hell of a punch and is genuinely unnerving in places. This said, the monsters themselves by no means play 2nd fiddle despite the disconcerting premise of flying bugs and tentacles crawling across supermarket forecourts.
I urge you to watch this film; I was captivated from the ...

At first the mist was intriguing, but as soon as the pathetic giant bugs started flying in and ripping off flesh i knew it was going to be a fail.
The cover suggests post apocalyptic, thought provoking fun caused by this mysterious mist, but the plot focuses on the quibblings of a group of people stranded in a supermarkek-topped off with lackluster visuals.
Unless you're into the whole giant bug thing, give this a big swerve.

A mysterious electrical storm creates a strange mist over a small town and within this mist lurks something dreadful!
All the people who become trapped in the local store have varying opinions on what the mist is and how to deal with it. It is not until it becomes horribly apparent what is 'out there' and also in the store that the story really gets going. This story shows how well Stephen King understands human nature and just how quickly we disintegrate when faced with the unknown. Among the ...

The problem with this film is when the flying bugs attack the supermarket they put all the lights on......everybody knows bugs are attracted to light but it takes them 10 min to realise it...every character seems to have no survival instinct they act like lemmings to a cliff!!!
